Saneh Jaan is a new upmarket Thai restaurant located just behind ‘The Glasshouse’ on wireless road, just between the American Embassy and Lumpini Park. The restaurant is spacious with large wooden doors, high ceilings, hundreds of framed Bangkok photos hanging on the walls. This very posh interior design is a little intimidating and first and the 2 things that comes to mind are ‘Is this going to cost me a lot” and “Is it a restaurant for tourists”?
Yes, the price tag is a little bit high but Saneh Jaan is quite affordable for a special occasion. I wouldn’t go there on a daily basis but if you have friends or colleagues visiting Bangkok, this is the perfect place to showcase some excellent Thai food. Dishes served here are actually authentic Thai, even quite spicy for some. Sane Jaan serves a traditional Thai food with a modern touch and the fact that most guests are Thai is usually a good sign. A great deal of effort is made on the presentation and dishes are so beautifully presented, and you can expect all your guests to take lots of photos first. And if you ask what Saneh Jaan mean, it is a famous yellow Thai dessert.
Sane Jaan is also a large and beautiful bar area, perfect to gather your guests before dinner. Don’t miss the fun display of Ya Dong on the bar counter… this is a well know alcohol based traditional Thai aphrodisiac. It might not have a proven efficient but it sure will give you a god subject for conversation.
We were a very large group, which is perfect to enjoy dinner the Thai way, where all dishes are shared and plates are passed along.
Service is as polite, sophisticated but friendly and very efficient, always doing their best to make sure all guests are well attended, even in a group.
